Our History

The parent company of Headway House was created by a group of parents whose adult children suffered severe traumatic brain injuries. These parents found, to their dismay, there were no available life-long residential programs for adults with TBI. In response to this need, they founded the parent company in 1983 and hired staff to care for these individuals. Headway House is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, which includes family members, staff, professionals with expertise in brain injury, and other community members.
